Gingham and Tigers I wears - oh MY!

While I may still be relatively new to making *my* own clothing, I've discovered some surprising side-effects of me-made fashion already.

The first being, that making my own clothes has resulted in instant conversation starters when I'm out and about. "I love your dress." "Oh thank-you! I *made* it."

This small exchange results in an instant mini-conversation about sewing, whether the other party sews or not etc. It's quite fun! And if I get any funny looks, I prefer to think they are gobsmacked by my amazing sense of style, rather than thinking "What IS she wearing?" and shaking their heads. I'm thinking positive though, because every time I go out, someone likes my dress or skirt...so like a five year old, I bask in their admiration.

Bunnies, Bags and Bonnets

February has been a flurry of pattern making and plans. 

Today I finally pressed 'publish' on the Pixie Pocket pattern, a sweet little woodland bunny that I designed to be friends with Hazel. There is a lot of work in pattern making, especially as my doll patterns have step-by-step photograph guides. It's the way I learn best so I figured maybe other people do too!

The Marvelous Maxi

It's been on my 'to make list' for awhile.

A long, swishy, full skirt that would have made my five-year old self swoon.

(You see at five, a long skirt or dress must mean one is a princess)

With fabric that I bought a few years ago for a fifties style dress that I somehow never got around to, I thought this beautiful Joel Dewberry Voile would make a rather marvelous maxi.
